The other day I was videoed for a cool inspirational video for my website. The videographer Andrew Thorman is my children’s dance teacher. He is an amazing dance teacher and specialises in Ballroom Dancing at Silhouette Studios. Andrew also has a passion for videography. He offered to do a video for my business.

At first I had an idea for an informational video but Andrew had other ideas and wanted to go inspirational. He wanted to show me as a child as my script talked about how I grew up in the country and loved nature, and still do. The opening scene shows my daughter Arielle running her hand through some grasses and looking at a flower. I used to do the same thing when I was a child. She is looking at a dandelion flower and I used to love these flowers as they grew in abundance on our small farmlet.

Nature is what inspired my imagination. I would recommend to anyone who is having a creative block to go back to nature. Nature is perfect. Nature is beautiful. It is all you really need to get your imagination back. It is very relaxing and a great way to pass the day. It is good for people who are anxious or depressed or upset about something. Taking photos of nature is even better because you look at every little part of the plant and focus on the plant and nothing else. It is a form of mindfulness.

Firstly Andrew recorded me talking. I felt rather wooden and scripted, but it turned out ok in the end. I had several takes which got better and better. I’m not a showy person, and not a natural in front of the camera so Andrew had to work quite hard to get me relaxing. I still feel like I’m a little scripted, but I like the words I’m saying, so that’s all that matters I guess.

Paige came over after school one day with her Mum to do the video shoot. I put her in a red dress and cream dress. She rocked both dresses and did some great poses. I’ve worked with Paige before and she is always amazing. I didn’t want to use my own children as they appear regularly in my work.

Arielle did some acting down at a slightly rural area near me. We went at sunset and found some tussocks next to a field of sheep. What you can’t see in the footage are the large houses just to the left hand side and the people having dinner and looking out at us, wondering what on earth we are doing. So funny! Arielle ran her hand through the tussocks just like I would have done in the 1980s. Then Louis found a dandelion which I handed to Arielle to pretend to be me. It was like going back in time for me. It was so special to me.

The rest of my video shows me taking dance photos on the beach. The model on the beach is Andrew’s daughter Elisha who is an amazing dancer. By taking photos of her it means Andrew get some photos in return for his amazing video. Also, because she is such an amazing dancer I got some amazing shots.

Andrew used to drone to take a very cool shot of me photographing on the beach from the height. Check out my new video. It’s on my Experience page and will stay there for a long time. It is also pinned to the top of my Facebook page. It really demonstrates why I do photography and what you might expect from a shoot.

Christchurch Fine Art Photographer An amazing video experience The other day I was videoed for a cool inspirational video for my website. The videographer Andrew Thorman is my children’s dance teacher.
